What are the main challenges in current industrial inspection, and how can they be overcome?

Industrial inspection is a core component of quality control in manufacturing, especially for sophisticated electronic devices such as smartphones and auto parts. It’s often said that Apple excels in quality control—but in my view, this success largely stems from its robust industrial inspection processes. After all, today’s products are becoming increasingly complex, requiring highly precise testing equipment to identify even the slightest defects on the production line.

Industrial inspection is a core component of quality control in manufacturing, especially for precision electronic devices such as smartphones and auto parts. It’s often said that Apple excels in quality control—but in my view, this success largely stems from its robust industrial inspection processes. After all, today’s products are becoming increasingly complex, requiring highly accurate testing equipment to identify even the slightest defects on the production line.

However, product structures are becoming increasingly complex, making it harder and harder for traditional inspection equipment to meet manufacturers' needs—especially when it comes to intricate features like multi-curved surfaces, deep holes, and thin-walled components. In such cases, both precision and efficiency often fall short of the required standards, making quality control simply impossible to achieve.

 Qiyuan Vision Industrial Inspection

To address many of the challenges in today’s industrial inspection processes, Qiyuan Vision has developed the AlphaScan handheld laser 3D scanner. As one of the few domestic manufacturers equipped with independent R&D capabilities in this field, Qiyuan integrates a dual-layer LED design with multiple laser lines, enabling exceptionally clear scanning of deep holes and thin-walled structures. Precision is paramount in industrial-grade inspections, and their equipment delivers stable, metrology-level accuracy—down to an impressive 0.02 mm. Whether it’s metal parts or plastic components, the device effortlessly handles materials of all kinds.

Application scenarios are also expanding, with industries ranging from automotive manufacturing to furniture starting to explore the technology. Recently at the TCT Asia exhibition, many attendees got hands-on experience operating the equipment—capable of rapidly creating models for everything from intricate small parts to large-scale components. The real-time imaging results even earned thumbs-up from numerous industry professionals.

With the high-precision detection equipment like the Qiyuan Visual 3D scanner—powered by advanced 3D vision algorithms and a high-performance hardware design—the system enables real-time visualization of 3D models through scanning, delivering a comprehensive inspection solution. Their independently developed AI algorithms automatically identify features and, combined with multi-angle scanning data, ensure data accuracy and consistency while minimizing the need for manual intervention.
